About
Although this is not my primary career I continue to tutor because teaching math is my biggest passion. I can thank one teacher for that—Mr Lukasiak who taught my Senior AP Calculus class. Prior to his class I always understood I was good at math but honestly never thought of it more than a subject in school. He was different and it was obvious. First he was so passionate about teaching every single day. What I admired about him most was how he taught math. Every other teacher I had previously all had similar styles in which they taught math as a combination of mechanics and memorization—or the “HOW” of math. Therefore I considered math boring. Mr lukasiak however focused on teaching the “WHY” and before the year was over I knew that I wanted to teach math for the rest of my life. Although I graduated 7th in my class out of about 300 I attended Assumption College because I was recruited to play soccer. By sophomore year I was nominated by the Math Department Chair to work at the Academic Support Center tutoring other college students in all levels of math. I worked there for three years and was very successful with helping students because I made sure that I explained the “WHY” in every interaction and I believe the why is the math, the logic and the attractive part of math.
I graduated from Assumption College in 2004 with a BA in Mathematics and minor in Secondary Education, MAGNA CUM LAUDE. I was also inducted to KAPPA MU EPSILON which is a National Collegiate Math Honors Society. I also graduated as a CERTIFIED MASTERS MATHEMATICS TUTOR by the CRLA (College of Reading and Learning Association) because of the amount of hours I accumulated tutoring and contributions I made to the Academic Support Center over the years. I finished as a 3 TIME DEANS LIST RECIPIENT and I was invited to present at the 2003 NCUR (National Conference of Undergraduate Research) for some advancements I made on a proof that had applications in Quantum Physics.
I got a job in the financial services industry but worked part time for Club Z! In-Home Tutoring because I loved teaching and tutoring math in my free time. After 3 years however I decided to focus on my primary job and that’s when I would tutor when friends or family asked me too.
Ultimately, I will help your students achieve their goals based on my passion, work ethic and dedication to my process of making sure students not only understand the HOW, but more importantly, the WHY which is the math, the logic and what makes the subject so amazing.
