I have experience with students in grades 3-12 and higher education to improve their writing. I have a Master's of Education, and my teaching certification includes English Langauge Arts and areas of focus in creative non-fiction, technical writing, teaching ESL and students with learning challenges, such as ADD/ADHD. Areas of expertise include academic writing, essays and projects, and college entrance essays. I am a certified secondary English teacher in Nebraska, Missouri, and Arizona and have worked in education for over a decade. Helping students find their words and express their thoughts clearly in print is my passion.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For the first meeting, I like to meet with the student and parent to establish a goal and timeline for the project, get know the student's preferred learning style and challenges, areas that they improve in their writing. Dependent on the size of the project and learning needs of the student, we start with brainstorm topics (if not already predetermined) and the outlining process, this followed by the first draft, then a revised second draft, third draft revision if needed, and final edit. Some or all of the meetings can be done online. Google Docs allows edit tracking and comments for the drafting process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Education in Secondary Education, focused on English Language Arts. I have studied Creative Non-fiction and teaching ESL at the graduate level, and have 10 years of experience in education and am a licensed English teacher in Nebraska. The essay is my area of expertise.
