With an English degree, a Master's degree in education, Nebraska teacher certification, and many years of classroom and school administration experience, I am now available online for tutoring student writing and for freelance writing projects.
For helping to revise/edit student writing, I use the 7 (6+1) Traits of Writing and exchange documents only through parents; there will be no direct communication with students. I do not write papers for students. Fees will be arranged in advance.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work with junior-high and high school students by email only. I do not conduct live classes or deal directly with students. I work through parent emails, having a parent send me writing assignments that a student is working on and then returning my recommendations for revision to the parent.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Specialist Degree (Masters + 30) in education, following a major in English and a Masters in Education Administration. I have taught junior-high/high school student English classes for ten years and have done professional writing as a principal, superintendent, and college administrative asssistent for over thirty years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I negotiate an agreeable fee with parents based on the complexity of the assignment and the degree of support needed by the student. In general, a fee would probably average around $20 per hour; but if a paper is great to begin with and needs only a “thumbs up” response from me, there wouldn’t be any charge.
If the financial situation at home is tough, that won’t stop me from helping a student at little or no cost.
How did you get started teaching?
I had some inspiring teachers along the way and wanted to follow their lead since I was a sophomore in high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
Junior high and high school, primarily.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
“...I consider you one of the individuals that helped shape my life....it would have been easy/justified to have sent me packing, but you didn’t, and once again just wanted to express my gratitude.”

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If a student wants an experienced, outside opinion of the strengths and weaknesses in her/his writing assignments at the junior and senior high school level, then I am available as someone who can provide that help.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If there are any particular aspects of your assignment that you have questions about, you can help by pointing those out when you send your work for review.
