Let me introduce myself,
I am currently a student teacher at Benson High School. I am currently teaching 11th and 12th-grade English. I will graduate in December from the University of Nebraska, Omaha with a degree in secondary education, a concentration in English, and a focus in ESL (English as a second language).
I would love to assist students with the transitions and changes that COVID-19 has brought while gaining more experience before starting my own classroom in January 2021.
I enjoy differentiating content and teaching strategies to best fit the needs of my students. It is important that the teacher knows how the student learns best.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we will get to know each other a little bit and what kind of goals that the student has. We will focus on a plan and make some objectives for what we want to accomplish.
Prior to meeting with the student, I would like to know some background information. For example, what the student needs help with, grade level, what school district they are in (for standards and curriculum), and what current materials and content they are using in their classroom.

All intern/practicum experiences:

How did you get started teaching?
I have known that I have wanted to be a teacher since primary school. Immediately after high school, I enrolled in the University of Nebraska, Omaha and began their education program.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with every grade level 7th-12th in both Language Arts and English.
I am also ELL (English as a second language) certified and have worked with language levels 1-5.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In the midst of all the craziness that online learning seems to be due to COVID-19, I was educated in special training and classes for online learning. I am prepared to help and assist with online learning.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise them to look for a tutor who can demonstrate different strategies and viewpoints of delivering content. Not all learners are the same and it is important that a teacher/tutor actively engages their student in the content and presented it in a way that fits your learning needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are their goals with the subject they are needing extra focus in?
