About this tutor

I am an independent tutor.  I am an 8th grade math teacher.  I want to help as many students as I can, acheive their goals and pass their math class for the year.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary studies, specializing in middle school math.  I have taken all tests required to be a math teacher.

How do I stand out from other tutors?  I will do my best to make math fun for your child while they learn challenging content.  I have the natural ability to build a relationship with children reguardless of circumstances.

This is my first year officially tutoring outside of 'school tutoring'.  The 2019-2020 school year will be my second year teaching.  This is my passion, I strive for children to understand math, not just memorize, but understand.

Currently, I teach 8th grade math and Math 1.  However, I am willing to tutor elementary up to Math 1 (9th grade).

Getting to know my students and finding fun ways to help them learn challenging tasks or content.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Pre-assessments are a big deal for me.  I like to see what the student already knows and what is a struggle.  This helps focus on major needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelor's Degree specializing in middle school math

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I would like for tutoring to be affordable and available to all who NEED it.  Depending on grade level my services will be $17-$25 per hour.

How did you get started teaching?

Teaching has been a life long dream of mine, so I went to school for math because it is my favorite subject.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all types of students, different levels, high and low, ADHD, different IEPs, etc.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find someone you can relate to, someone you can talk to and trust.
