Academic growth and development is so important at each stage. When new concepts are not clearly understood, it's becomes increasingly difficult to build on this rocky foundation. In addition to my training as a secondary science instructor and as an adult educator, I bring the experience of homeschooling my own children for 5 years through most elementary and middle school grades. I have also been trained in English As a Second Language (ESL) K-12 and have a passion for working with non-native English speakers.
I enjoy working with both children and adults to assist them in achieving their goals. I support learning through content instruction as well as providing coaching in learning strategies and study skills.
Mrs. O’Neill has been very helpful to my 7th grader. She has an enormous amount of patience and ensures that my son gets the right assistance with his current math problems. She takes her time teaching him and reaches out to his teachers on their current curriculum so that she continues to assist him with whatever struggles he may be having. I would recommend Mrs. O’Neill to anyone needing a great tutor!
I like to meet with the family and student first, for about half an hour or so. This enables us both to establish a level of trust. I can share with you my approach to teaching and my background as well as field any questions you might have. It helps us both decide if this will be a good fit for your learner.
I have a BS in Secondary Science Education from NCSTATE, with a concentration in both biology and chemistry. I also have an MS in Adult and Community College Education and an ESL licensure.
Pricing varies a little depending on the drive distance, but generally ranges between $40 and $55/per session. I prepare at least 1 hour for each hour I teach.
