Ms. Kelly is a very gifted individual and the children in our learning pods are eager to see her every morning. She provides moments of laughter and joy throughout the instructional day. I love teaching with her!

A hard working, caring tutor. She is patient and understanding but has high expectations and lets her students know what is expected of them. She teaches resilience and dedication along with core subjects.

  • Ava Gary

She is a great tutor who has helped me from getting easily confuse and is also very motivating.

  • Krysta Gary

Ease of access, flexibility and variety of subjects that could be covered by tutor. She is able to connect with students in a unique way that is engaging. With so many children working remotely, they can easily become frustrated and discouraged. Her strong curricular knowledge, combined with her positive, motivating mindset, helped my child feel successful as she worked through the material. I highly recommend her.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My first step is to make connections. That way, I can find relevant content to help students learn. Seeing and treating each child as the unique individual they are motivates me to disregard 'cookie cutter' practices and work with them to come up with a plan that works.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I tutoring in college, taught 3rd grade, and I am currently teaching remote learning classes.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Typically, I charge $25. I have a passion for working with underreresented, marginalized, and under-served families, so I have offered my services at discounted prices.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching because growing up, I did not see myself represented in the classroom. I wanted, and continue to strive,  to be the person I needed with I was in school.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students identified as struggling readers, high achieving students, and students with learning differences. In terms of age, I have worked with pre-K through grade 6.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure you are comfortable with that person and never be afraid to ask for help.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Can I trust this teacher to take my needs seriously?

Will this teacher address my needs in a way that is learner-centered?

Will this person do the learning FOR me or WITH me?

Will I have decision making power during my learning experience?
