Academic And Behavioral Tutoring By Jennifer Young

About

I am a Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) with over 20 years of experience in the field of K-12 special education. My expertise lies in working with children with Autism, ADHD, emotional and behavioral disturbances, and other learning disabilities that may hinder their academic progress. I am dedicated to creating individualized, engaging sessions that meet each child at their current developmental level, ensuring that learning is both fun and effective.

Throughout my career, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of how to teach a broad range of subjects and cater to students with diverse needs. I have extensive experience working in collaboration with educators in public, private, and homeschool settings. My approach utilizes individualized positive reinforcement and motivating operations to promote optimal learning outcomes for each student.

In addition to direct teaching, I am highly experienced in training parents, teachers, and other key stakeholders to ensure that strategies are aligned across home and educational environments. I encourage regular feedback from parents and caregivers during each session and, upon request, I am happy to explain and demonstrate the techniques I am using to help the child achieve the best possible results. I am also available outside of scheduled service times to address any questions or concerns that may arise.

I offer competitive rates and provide discounts for services paid in advance. While I prefer in-person sessions, I am happy to provide services via Zoom when appropriate. I am committed to working with families who genuinely seek assistance, regardless of their financial situation. If my quoted rate is unaffordable, I encourage open communication, and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

My goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn effectively and reach their full potential. My passion lies in helping children overcome learning obstacles by making education engaging, meaningful, and tailored to their needs. By integrating Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles into my tutoring sessions, I am able to identify and leverage the most effective reinforcers and motivating operations to facilitate learning. I emphasize natural environment teaching whenever possible and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, recognizing that each step forward is a success worthy of celebration.

I truly believe that our children are our most precious gift, and I am dedicated to helping them unlock their full potential. It would be my privilege to work with your child on their journey of growth and learning.

Absolutely Exceptional Tutoring Experience with Jennifer!
Jennifer has been a true gift to our family. From the very beginning, she worked with us to make tutoring not only effective but also affordable, which made a huge difference for us. She was flexible with scheduling, always accommodating our busy lives, and incredibly responsive whenever we needed to adjust times or sessions.
What truly sets Jennifer apart is her deep knowledge, patience, and understanding—especially when it comes to working with children who learn differently. My child has ADHD, and before working with Jennifer, he struggled to stay focused for even short periods. Jennifer brought such warmth, structure, and creativity to each session that his attention span has dramatically improved. He’s now more engaged, confident, and focused—not just in tutoring but in his everyday learning.
Jennifer’s ability to connect, motivate, and teach in a way that meets each child where they are is rare and remarkable. I can’t recommend her enough to any parent looking for a tutor who is not only highly competent but truly cares. Thank you, Jennifer, for making such a meaningful difference in our child’s education and confidence!

Hello! Im Jenna, a 5th-grade teacher. Jennifer and I both worked with a student together. I observed noticeable improvements in the childs confidence, skills, and grades after just two weeks of tutoring sessions. Throughout the year, Jennifer and I collaborated closely, establishing a working relationship that greatly supported the students progress. By the end of the 5th grade, the child had gained the confidence and skills necessary to achieve an A in math.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, my process begins with a comprehensive approach to ensure we meet both the student's academic needs and their personal learning style. Here's how I typically work with families and students: 1. Understanding the Student’s Needs: The initial process starts with a phone call to gather detailed information about the student’s academic strengths, challenges, and goals. I take time to listen to the child, parents, and any educators involved to get a well-rounded view of the student’s learning style and preferences. This helps me tailor my approach to best suit the individual. 2. Initial Meet and Greet: I offer a free meet-and-greet before our first session. This gives both the student and their family the chance to ask questions, discuss their goals, and determine if we're a good fit. It’s important to establish rapport and to ensure that the student feels comfortable and supported from the start. 3. Setting Goals Together: With input from both the student and family, we establish clear and measurable academic goals. These could be related to improving specific skills, achieving better grades, or developing greater confidence in a subject. We also discuss expectations for progress and any particular areas of concern that need extra focus. 4. Use of Positive Reinforcements: Throughout our work, I implement positive reinforcement strategies to motivate the student. This might include verbal praise, rewarding small milestones, or using a reward system tailored to what motivates the student best. The goal is to create an environment where the child feels encouraged and proud of their progress, even when working through challenging material. 5. Regular Feedback and Communication with the Family: I believe that clear, consistent communication with parents is key to the student’s success. After each session, I provide updates on the student’s progress and areas for continued improvement. We may also set up regular check-ins to discuss how things are going, ensure that everyone is on the same page, and make any necessary adjustments to the learning plan. 6. Affordability and Flexibility: I understand that cost can be a concern for many families, and I want to make sure tutoring is accessible. We can discuss different pricing options and try to work within the family’s budget. My goal is to make sure the services are both effective and affordable. By combining academic focus with positive reinforcement and open communication with families, I strive to create a learning environment that is both supportive and successful. Every student is unique, so I tailor my methods to ensure their needs are met in a way that works for them.
I am a Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) with over 20 years of experience in addressing the academic and behavioral needs of children. Throughout my career, I have specialized in working with children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, OCD, dyslexia, and other learning and behavioral disorders. Additionally, I work with typically developing students to ensure a comprehensive approach to educational and behavioral development. My expertise extends beyond direct student work; I have trained parents, teachers, behavior technicians, and other stakeholders in effective strategies for supporting both students with and without learning and behavioral challenges. This experience allows me to provide a well-rounded approach to education that includes guidance for those involved in the child’s learning process. As a former homeschool parent for nearly 9 years, I bring a unique perspective to my work, having navigated the complexities of individualized learning plans firsthand. I have also worked in a diverse range of educational settings, including public schools, private schools, and homeschool environments, providing me with a broad understanding of how to support students in different contexts. With this background, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to the specific needs of each child.
