What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Have them work several problems and have them check their answers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an electrical engineering degree and have been working in maintenance and engineering since graduating in 1994.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am currently in high demand so I should be able to get a high rate if not $80/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
In college, working at student support services tutoring fellow students then teaching with the Upward Bound Program then eventually starting my own private business. I have been tutoring all grade levels since 93.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels from elementary through college including AP.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Tutoring the twin 5th grade kids of the second student that I ever tutored and having one of my former students earn her Phd in Chemistry.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone that knows the material inside and out. Someone that knows how to solve the problem several ways.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How can they get their quiz and test papers and homework assignments back regularly. Ml
