Formatec Tutoring Durham
About
Rafael Barreto whom designed the Tutoring programs and systems that we use has been teaching and Tutoring for over 20 years. He has been a professor at Universities and has taught at many public schools. Our programs are designed to get the student caught up to grade level at a faster pace than normal programs without the student feeling rushed or pushed through a program. The student can go at their own pace but the program is so well designed, it takes much less time than other similar Tutoring programs. The parent saves money by having to purchase less hours and the student gets the confidence and feeling of accomplishment that they are learning.
Helping Students and Parents acheive thier goals of Excellence.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing we do is give a FREE Evaluation to see where the student is in their Math or Reading skill. The Evaluation will tell us what subjects the student is having a hard time with and how many hours of Tutoring it will take to get them up to speed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The professor that created the Tutoring System has MANY Master degrees in many Sciences such as Nuclear Physics and Computer Science just to name a few.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is gone over with the Parent after the FREE Evaluation. The price is dependent on the amount of hours the student needs, how many hours a week the parent would like the student to come in, the subject ect...
We DO NOT use contracts to lock you in any length of time or min. payments. We DO NOT believe in that! Our program works so well that you will want to come back on your own.
How did you get started teaching?
Professor Barreto ("Mr B" is what he prefers to be called) Saw that his own Children where struggling in School and he was a professor at a University. They did not want to listen or take instruction from him because he was their "Dad". He decided to create several software programs to walk them through the theory of Math skills and continued that as they progressed. He then found that there was a Huge NEED for help in this area and decided to open a center. He has had several very successful centers in Venezuela and Florida. He has since retired and moved to help the students here in Durham NC
What types of students have you worked with?
K-12
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are not locked into a contract with a program that you are not sure is going to be a good fit for your student. There is not just ONE teaching method that can teach ALL STUDENTS. Students are individuals and everyone learns in a different way, so they each need to be taught in a different way.
