Athul Vikas has been an Online tutor with over seven students in the past year. He is a rising freshman going to The University of South Carolina pursuing the Pre-Med route along with a minor in business. He is also a Capstone Scholar for the University and wishes to tutor others who need assistance with learning new concepts: Algebra, All concepts related to 1st- 10th grade, U.S history, Biology, and many more!
I also offer homework assistance and EOG prep for students.
The academic system is structured in a way that indirectly causes high levels of stress, a lack of self-confidence, and a serious disconnection between school and learning. Instead, we encourage critical thinking skills, a deep understanding o the subjects, and by far the most important, active recall. As we interact with students, we wish to mentor while making them independently understand the concepts at a deeper, semantic level.
Education has always been a pet peeve for Athul Vikas since his time in India seven years back. He did not like the way content was thought in India, through rigorous memorization without any valid understanding or reasoning.
Athul wishes to teach students not only the topics at hand but also time management and learning strategies that will aid them in their future.

Ever Since the Covid-19 pandemic and onward, our society has completely shifted to the computer screen. Whether it be online classes or minimal interactions, we are all home. However, For students, this is highly problematic. Kids are not supported to learn through zoom calls and learn through boring lectures that are completely passive.
I love helping students with their learning goals-- as simple as that. My philosophy is that a clear understanding is the most important aspect of education and I truly enjoy the aha moment when my students realize a new idea.
With this strategy, my students have received honor roll in their classes with a thorough understanding of math, science, and their applications.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, We typically discuss with the parent to see what their core strengths and weakness are. We also take a look at their target goal through tutoring. We also take a look at their syllabus and we go from there.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally, I have a fixed Hourly Rate of 15-20 dollars per hour depending on the schedule and requests. Yes, We are 50% more affordable than other online tutors, but there are no compromises with the low cost. I believe in affordable education without having to throw out cash for no results. Further discounts are available if it is long-term (at least 10 sessions).
Most of my students have been committed for at least six months. However, if you are not satisfied with the progress, you are free to cancel anytime.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds of students, mainly from elementary through Middle school. They all vary in personalities, and it is truly fun working with new kinds of students every day.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would first advise them on their target/goal. There is no point in hiring a teacher that does not fit their criteria for improvement. Also, I would look at the overall value provided: Affordability is a key aspect for tutoring and it is important to ensure that the sessions are of use.
