I love helping others succeed academically and have worked in literacy and tutoring programs for the past four years. This includes work with the AVID program and Asheville City Schools, the Y-Readers program, non-profit Promising Pages, and Charlotte Mecklenberg Library. I have experience with tutoring for all ages, from kindergarten through high school. I am a current college student at UNC Asheville, majoring in English/Creative Writing and minoring in Environmental Studies. I am so passionate about learning and am excited to be able to help you improve!
I love being able to witness the curiosity and determination of my students. It is so inspiring to see the hard work and imagination of others. I grew up with a passion for reading and writing, and I love getting to share that passion with others. Books changed my life, so seeing my students delve into their own ideas and literature is amazing.
Eliana has been tutoring my 5th grader in math for the last month or so and my daughters confidence level has increased - does not need as much assistance with homework!!
She is nice, well educated and all three of my children love her.
I am trained in active reading, a skill used when helping younger students learn to read. For older students, I am familiar with close reading analysis and comprehension. As an English major, I have taken specialty courses in ancient, renaissance, and modern literature, poetry writing, and fiction writing. In terms of math, I took through AP Calculus AB and received a 5 on the AP exam.

I started tutoring when I was in high school and volunteered at my local library in their "Get Ready for Kindergarten" program. Inspired by the enthusiasm of all the children, I continued tutoring to this day.
I have worked with students of all ages, K-12. As an AVID tutor, I work with students at Asheville City Schools in grades 6-12. For the Y-Readers program, I worked with kindergarteners through second graders who were below grade level in reading. This included students learning English as a second language. At the library, I tutored students kindergarten through fifth grade. I have also worked with students with autism and special needs.
