About

My service stands out because of my experience and expertise. I have quite a bit of experience tutoring. I first started tutoring my freshman year of college where I helped some local high schoolers with algebra II. Then starting in junior year and through senior year, I worked for my college's quantitative tutoring center for undergraduates in many statisitcs and mathematics courses. Somedays were slower than others, so I could either be doing one-on-one tutoring or having to apply a triage system to up to 8 student at once. I also have experience in online tutoring when our service moved virtually for COVID-19. My skills when it comes to tutoring. With 5 semesters of tutoring experience I have developed my teaching abilities thoroughly. I know when a student needs to be pushed or needs space to work on the problem. I ask leading questions to both gauge their understanding so I can meet them where they are at, but sometimes also to show them that they really do know how to do the problem so that they can be more confident when they are on their own. I am also friendly and open, which I think is important so that the student is comfortable to learn. I think my most important skill I have when it comes to tutoring is my patience. I don't easily give up on my student or get frustrated and I will try many different approaches to a problem to find the one that works best for them.

I have a passion for tutoring/teaching. To put it simply, I love to teach. I think it is awesome helping people understand complex methods and it feels like I am really making a difference in the world. Since I started with those algebra II high schoolers, I knew that educating would continue being a part of my life. In fact, my dream is to someday become a professor so that I can make a bigger impact on young minds and the world at large.

    Frequently asked questions

My typical process for working with new students is to first understand what they need work on and then meeting them at a level they can understand. This can be achieved by looking at their schoolwork and talking to them about what they want to improve on. Then we will work on problems similar to those topics until I feel comfortable they are really understanding. I ask leading questions so that they find the answers on their own which gives them confidence to do it when I'm not there.

    I charge $15/hr for students aged 5-13, $20/hr for 14-18, and $25/hr for 19 and older.

I got started teaching in my freshman year of undergraduate where I was tutoring local highschoolers in algebra II. It was only for 1 semester, but just from how fulfulling that experience was, I knew I wanted to do it more and more.

First, I started with algebra II highschoolers. Later, I worked with college students on undergraduate courses in mathematics and statistics varying from calculus to probability. Now, I'm starting to work with all sorts of ages from elementary to college level.

When UNC beat Duke in the NCAA tournament making it to the finals and everyone in Chapel Hill rushed to Franklin Street! Couches were ablaze.

My most important piece of advice for a student interested in being tutored is the phrase "you reap what you sow," meaning that you will get out of tutoring exactly how much effort you put in. It's not worth the money if you are not focused on improving your skills.
