I have been fortunate enough to have either taught and/or tutored grade levels K-16 (mostly maths and sciences) for over 10 years. It really makes a difference when you can teach and/or tutor several grade levels. You gain a deeper understanding of what the studenst have either missed or what is needed.
I began teaching college level mathematics and physics in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi even while becoming certified to teach all subjects for ACT Test Prep. I was also fortunate to have prepared teachers nationally on how to implement Common Core in their classrooms. I've modeled these lessons to both the teachers and students and have a deep knowlegde of what students need in order to be successful.
I have always enjoyed explaining the most difficult of topics very simply. The joy that the students' faces have is so rewarding once they understand what they've been missing.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always build a personable relationship with my students to let them know that they know more than they think and that I will help ease the anxiety of whatevery troubles they are having. Having a positive, encouraging and optimistic attitude is key. I typically give a short assessment to see what areas they are weak in according to their grade level. Once I have made those assessments, I can not only help to fill in those missing gaps but I can simultaneously help with their current work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught and/or have tutored grade levels K-16 (mostly maths and sciences) for over 10 years. I began teaching college level physics and math and eventually worked extensively with K-12 students. I was also one of the forerunners of the Common Core movement where a handful of us were initially recruited to help teachers in the state of New York and eventually nationwide, to jump start their Common Core curriculum. So, I understand the types of questions that students have to deal with when it comes to their school work and trying to understanding what needs to be tackled.
I have also been certified in all subject levels of ACT and have tutored SAT when I was the Center Director and tutor for a math tutoring center. I am currently tutoring grade levels K-5 while our local school system has been momentarily shut down.
