Nicquelette F. says, "What I really appreciated about working with Jacqui is that she is very understanding and clear when explaining the process of math. She is currently my tutor for my calculus class, of which I despise all things math, but with the progressive and common-sense way she describes math actually helps me retain the information and make sense of what is going on. Unlike past professors/teachers I have had, she is not condescending, close-minded, or difficult to work with. She genuinely likes math and working with people- for her, it just comes naturally. When working with her I can tell she enjoys it when I feel confident about an answer or I have an epiphany and it just “clicks” for me. She doesn’t make me do math just one way like a lot of teachers do these days, instead she explains all the basic principals and when I understand it she allows me to make connections with the math that make it easier for me. Overall, she is very patient and is willing to look at solving problems through multiple perspectives and explaining the material through a creative approach versus a boring and monotonous one. I tend to lose track and get overwhelmed by the material sometimes, and she knows how to get me back on track and focus.
I say all this because I have tried with so many other tutors and teachers before and I just don’t get it- I have worked with, and am still working with Jacqui to this day and because of her I’m about to finish my last required course (calculus) by the end of the summer and officially receive my bachelors degree!!
