Mr. Sharpe is a Licensed Master Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Master Addiction Counselor. He received his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Kansas, and his graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Saint Mary. Mr. Sharpe completed his clinical training at a community mental health center, where he received intensive training in administering and interpreting psycho-diagnostic evaluations, intelligence tests, and other clinical assessments. In 2019, Mr. Sharpe and Mrs. Weishaar founded KC Counseling and Psychological Solutions, and began providing mental health services to the Kansas City Metro community.
Mr. Sharpe’s background in the field of behavioral health is diverse, having worked in a variety of healthcare settings. Mr. Sharpe began his career as a Behavioral Health Technician for adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He then worked as a Research Associate at the University of Kansas where he studied motor and cognitive functioning in older adults with dementia, as well as, the associations between Alzheimer’s Disease and Periodontal Disease. Additionally, while at KU, Mr. Sharpe completed a year long internship in a Neuroscience Laboratory where he received experience in administering and interpreting neuropsychological evaluations. While completing his graduate-level training, Mr. Sharpe worked with children and parents involved in foster care, providing therapy and custody evaluations. He also worked in a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center where he provided treatment to adults with severe mental illness and substance abuse issues. Following completion of graduate school, Mr. Sharpe practiced at The University of Kansas Hospital, where he treated children and adolescents in acute psychiatric crisis.
