I have worked in a variety of schools, both as a teacher and as an administrator. Much of my job has been to create individualized plans to help students achieve success. I can quickly develop a good raport with students and figure out what they need in order to learn.
I love to see students begin to believe they are capable. If I do my job well, my goal is always to work myself out of a job. I love the moments where they not only understand the content but also feel confident to learn on their own.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start with a new student, I have two initial goals. I first want to develop a good raport with the students while also assessing what their needs and gaps in knowledge may be. I have found that if students trust me they are much more likely to work with me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in English as a Second Language education. I have worked for 10 years and on four different continents. Working at international schools has allowed me to gain experience working with English Learners as well as working with English, Social Studies and Science. I have worked with PreK students as well as adults - and everything in between.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30-35 an hour depending on the length and frequency of the lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I was able to volunteer as a teacher's aide during my senior year of high school. I decided I loved it and never looked back.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had students from all around the world. They have been all ages and ability levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher your child trusts. Trust lowers anxiety and that increases learning potential.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students (and their parents) should have an idea of what they hope to gain from tutoring. Having a goal is important.
