Math From Dimension C-137
About
I am available to tutor either on-line or in person.
I am a fun person who loves math, loves creativity, and I enjoy helping people of all ages and grade-levels face challenges in math education. Whether you really dislike your math homework, or if you enjoy it, whether you are struggling or you just need some guidance, I want to give you support and encouragement.
I have a math background and I have worked in education for over 10 years. I am familiar with the math curriculum in Minnesota's public schools.
I believe that it is important to find a balance in putting an effort into learning while, at the same time, allowing oneself the freedom to make mistakes and not put too much pressure on oneself. My experience teaches me that the process of learning math involves both hard work and imagination, and I want to support you in both.
I hope that I can address your challenges from where you are at. I look forward with working with you.
In terms of tutoring - helping others experience the rewards in learning. Being able to learn and continue to learn is an important privilege in being human. The economic rewards with education come also with opportunities to mature and connect with others.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For a new student I try to identify what the student understands about the subject and what the learning process is like for that student. I try to understand how that student interprets brand new material. This includes recognizing where anxiety, pressure, and impatience play a role in the learning process as well as how the student conceptualizes problems. Many times I find myself either encouraging hard work or imagination.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors in mathematics and I have worked in public education for over ten years. I have taught middle school math as well as high school math as a long-term substitute teacher, either for a number of weeks or months. I have many experiences working with students between 6th grade and college age. I am also familiar with the math curriculum used by Minneapolus Public Schools.
During my time with Minneapolis Public Schools I was a highly requested substitute teacher.
