Kalamazoo Tutoring
About
My name is Eliza, and I have been tutoring for about 2 years in the Kalamazoo area. I am currently a chemical engineering senior at WMU, and I mainly tutor in math, but I can also help with writing, science, reading comprehension, and other subjects.
I am willing to meet with students at their own houses, or meet at places like libraries. I am also available by phone to help students with and quick questions they have. Being accessible to students when they need help is very important to me, and I try to be accommodating and approachable.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet with a student at first to get to know who they are, not necessarily focus on teaching right away. I like to know what they like in school, how they are doing, etc. Once we address what the student needs help with, I give them a few teaching options and they can choose what method they like the best. I always try to present the material in several different ways, and introduce several "checkpoints" so we can measure progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have privately tutored for 2 years in the Kalamazoo area.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge between $20.00 - $35.00 an hour, and that depends on if I am driving to the students house to give the lesson, the level of material being covered, and other factors like those.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have tutored at a middle school to high school level, but am open to teaching younger ages as well as college level material.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of the students that I tutor received a "Student of the Month" award for his improvement in math skills. I was so happy for him that his hard work had paid off and our weekly sessions were helping him succeed.
