A2 Math Tutoring

Hello! I'm Lauren, the founder of A2 Math Tutoring. I've been a math tutor, a classroom teacher, and an education researcher for many years. I created this local Ann Arbor business in 2019 while in the late stages of my PhD program in mathematics education at the University of Michigan. I noticed that the tutoring services in the area focused on procedures, memorization, and repetition, which research shows can actually be detrimental to student's long term math learning and development. I wanted to provide a service that brought research-based best practices to my local community.

A2 Math Tutoring provides an individualized, holistic, and compassionate approach to math tutoring. We focus on concepts rather than rote procedures, encouraging students to communicate and explain their ideas. Students build confidence and overcome math anxiety through our strengths-based approach that offers cognitive and emotional support.
