Having taught High School math for 26 years I have been able to help a wide variety of students. My passion is Algebra, but I can help in a several other High School courses. For the past 16 years I have also been my schools Math Team Coach at Freeport High School.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I try to figure out the specific concepts students are struggling with and then give some brief back round for deeper understanding. Then I create several sample problems for student to practice with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a high school math teacher for 26 years.

How did you get started teaching?
I earned a bachelors degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in Mathematics and a minor in computer science in 1990.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked mostly with college prep students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My boys cross-country team have been state champions for the past 2 years.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher feels comfortable with the material in the course you are taking.
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
Have they met with their teacher? Have they formed a study group with other students in the class?
