About

My service stands out because as a student myself, I understand what other students need in order to achieve academic success. I have one year of experience in tutoring math from Forest Ege Elementary when I tutored students in preparation for final exams. I completed all of the subjects I am willing to teach with A's which demonstrates my comprehension level in the material. I can adapt to each students learning style, while ensuring they are engaged in the material. Not only will I make sure they have a firm grasp on the material, I will also teach the student test taking skills, study methods, and time management. I'm also flexible when it comes to scheduling. I am willing to provide my own materials and lesson plans and will gladly work with any you may provide. I also provide homework help and studying for tests. My lessons are interactive and colorful while providing comprehension checks along the way. I will give weekly progress reports to bother the student and parent and am open to feedback. I will assess the students knowledge at the beginning to make sure I'm teaching them at the right level and will address any knowledge gaps. My goal is to make sure the student is engaged and understands the material without feeling overwhelmed.

I enjoy many aspects of tutoring. It is very fulfilling when I see the person I'm tutoring is understanding and enjoying what I'm teaching them. Tutoring is important to me because I am helping someone achieve their academic goals, especially when they were unsure they could do it. I enjoy that the work I'm doing will positively impact the student and show them problem solving skills that they can use even when they are not being tutored. I enjoy how every student is different and therefore needs to be tutored differently. Tutoring helps a student reach their full academic potential and being a part of that is one of the most rewarding things there are.

Frequently asked questions

I first assess the students knowledge in the subject they wish to be tutored on. This ensures that the tutoring will begin at the right level. Then, I will address any knowledge gaps. Next I will figure out their learning style by showing them a variety of learning techniques and see which one they gravitate towards and see if that is the best way for the student to comprehend the material. This process ensures that the student learns what they need to know in the way that will work best for the student.

I am a high school student that has completed elementary math, algebra 1 and 2, and geometry. I did the honors version of all theses courses and completed them with straight A's. I have experience tutoring multiple 6th graders in preparation for their math final exam.

My fee depends on the length and frequency of the sessions. However, it usually falls weighing the $11-$16 range.

I got started tutoring by simply helping my classmates and friends understand what we were learning in class. I then joined after school programs dedicated to tutoring other students for final exams and helping them with homework. This helped me realize how much I enjoy helping people learn math and inspired me to start tutoring other people.

I have worked with mostly elementary school students and some middle school students.

One event that I am fond of was when I was taking algebra 2 honors. I was having trouble understanding one unit and the test for the unit was coming up. I wrote down every question about it I had and went to my teachers office before school asked him about them. I then asked him about any tips he had for studying for the test. He told me that the best way to study for a math test is to practice. When I got home after school, I redid every single homework assignment, practice problem, quiz, and classwork assignment we had from that unit. When I ended up taking the test I got a 98% and the highest score in the class. I remember this event fondly because it reminds me that hard work pays off and it showed me a way to study for math that works for me. That day set me up for success for the rest of the year.

I would say that it is important that the person you are hiring adapts how they teach to fit your needs. Not everyone learns the same way and having one method of teaching may work for some students but will make no sense to other students. I would also say that hiring a patient teacher is important to the students success.

The questions that a student should ask themselves before asking the teacher are:

Did I check my materials for the answer to this question?

Can I apply any strategies I already know to answer this question myself?
