About

I was always meant to be a teacher, but I followed the path of an Actuary. I have always tutored since college and currently am Chairman of Towson Actuarial Science and Risk Management Advisory Board. I freely help out my daughter and her friends with math, business, AP Government, and history. I look forward to meeting and learning how I can help. The first 30 minutes are FREE as it gives us a chance to meet and see if this will work. Suggest online or public library, but am open to other locations.

Math and sciences in general are all about the world around us. Seeing a student have a EUREKA moment is what I live for. Being able to help someone go from uncertainty to confidently explaining is a great joy. Once you learn a science well enough, you can artistically apply it.

He did an excellent job of understanding our daughters needs and making a plan for developing her calculus skills. Would recommend.

William is a highly experienced and outstanding math tutor. He has been working with my 12 year old daughter to keep her ahead of her math class. He is always punctual, and also very flexible and accommodating with any last minute rescheduling requests. Our daughter has been performing very well in Math. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great teacher!

The eureka moment of understanding what exponents are and how to manipulate them.  Seeing my daughters face after puzzling over why she could not get the right answer.  Then, after understanding how you can manipulate the exponents and how it just turns into easy addition and multliplication, she blazes through the rest of the problems with confidence.

Mathematics is a language.  Once you become familiar with it's definitions, you are empowered and the world makes more sense when seen through math.  Assure that you are comfortable asking (talking) with your teacher.  You first must be on the "same page" in your mother tongue (English).  Then, you can start down the path of this new language of mathematics.

Ask themselves what they will commit and what their goals are.  Then, ask the teacher if that level of committment is realistic to reach that goal.  Once expectations are set, then it comes down to a relationship.  That is, can you listen and talk with this teacher?  Any small annoyances, may compound and prevent learning.
