What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I begin with a diagnostic conversation and brief assessment to identify the student’s current understanding, gaps, and course expectations. Based on this, I develop a focused plan targeting key concepts while aligning sessions with their syllabus and upcoming assignments or exams. During sessions, I emphasize guided problem-solving, clear conceptual explanations, and active practice. I track progress regularly and adjust strategies to ensure measurable improvement and long-term understanding.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold a B.S. in Mathematics and a dual degree M.S. in Civil Engineering, which provided rigorous training in advanced mathematics, analytical modeling, and problem solving. I have over 7 years of tutoring experience working with college students from Montgomery College to the University of the District of Columbia, supporting coursework in Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, and Statistics. My academic training, combined with extensive hands-on tutoring, has strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles.

How did you get started teaching?

My interest in teaching began with my passion for mathematics during my freshman year at Montgomery College, where I worked as an on-campus tutor supporting students in Statistics, Precalculus, Calculus I–III, and Differential Equations. I later served as a Supplemental Instructor for Precalculus and a Teaching Assistant for Calculus II at the University of the District of Columbia, gaining extensive experience in both classroom and small-group instruction. Currently, while pursuing my PhD, I tutor for the Civil and Mechanical Engineering departments, continuing to help students apply mathematical concepts effectively and build strong problem-solving skills.
