JT Math/Science/English Tutoring With Specialization In Chemistry/Physics
About
Hi, my name is Jason, and I would like to thank you for your time and interest. Hopefully, we can work together to get you to where you want to be!
For some background on myself, in undergraduate, I was a double major in Chemistry and Physics, graduating through the Honors College at my university and with distinction in major. I went to graduate school for a Master of Science in Chemistry (Physical Chemistry Specialization). I am now currently in a Master of Education program in Curriculum and Instruction, which comes with a Teacher’s Certification.
I have tutored countless number of students through 7+ years of tutoring experience. My experience ranges from University level tutoring for both a college-student tutoring company and on-campus tutoring center, to high-school students to elementary students from my tutoring experience at a K-12 company. I have been a short-term tutor to help students study for the next exam, but also have experience as a long-term tutor, to help a students get through a difficult course or score improvement on standardized testing! I have been a teaching assistant for University level courses for 6+ semesters and have had administrative roles working closely with professors in curriculum design.
I believe that for us to be great students, we need to be great learners. We don’t learn information, unless we find it fun and/or relevant. I want to teach students how to LOVE science and how to interpret what we learn in the classroom to understand the world around us. Anyone can take their school-learned science and apply it to everyday life. What is the point of learning if it isn’t either fun/engaging or at the very least applicable to us in the real world? I want every student to finish learning at least one new thing per lesson (hopefully many more!). My goal is to not only fill in the knowledge gaps for your subject of interest, but I can help develop long-term studying skills and can even help develop individualized curriculum.
Please feel free to contact me so that we can work together to get you to achieve your goals! I am open to online instruction, as well as, in person instruction. I will respond quickly and will work together with you so that I can be adequately prepared for our lessons! My goal is to not only fill in the knowledge gaps for your subject of interest, but I can help develop long-term studying skills and can even help develop an individualized curriculum. With open communication, I can be a fast, reliable contact. I can do online tutoring, which is very helpful for creating online notes that can be saved, easy communication and one-on-on attention without outside distractions, and online resources for a more differentiated lesson! I can also do meet-ups and can try to work around both of our schedules meeting at safe neutral locations like a library.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I want to get to know the student. We spend a few minutes (unpaid) just talking about hobbies, characteristics, personality, studying habits, what they like, what they dislike, etc. Before our session, any additional information like previous/current assignments, trouble areas, and topics discussed in class would be helpful in order for me to adequately prepare. For our first lesson, it will be considered a trial, where you only pay if you feel like we were a good fit!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.S. in Chemistry and Physics
M.S. in Physical Chemistry
M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction for Secondary Science (Currently enrolled)
7+ years of independent tutoring and tutoring at various tutoring companies both at university level at campus tutoring centers and K-12 level working with all ages.
5+ years of classroom experience as teaching assistant for University level courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is dependent on case-by-case basis depending on number of sessions and content. The average case will range from $25-$45 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I always had a passion for education and started teaching/tutoring since my freshman year of undergraduate. Not only do I value those "a ha" moments, I relish in the educational journey of a student's growth.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds for a variety of subjects. Students of all ages from 4 years old (smart preschooler who loved math!) to 60 years old (grandmother who wanted to live her dream of getting a college degree).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you and the teacher are a good fit and connect and make sure that your teacher can explain it in a way that makes sense for you even after the session.
