About

I have been actively tutoring students throughout my high school and undergraduate career. I graduated from the University of Maryland Spring 2020 with a degree in Bioengineering. I have helped many students over the years through challenging courses in chemistry, physics, calculus, algebra, trigonometry, and technology related courses. I love learning and I work hard to put the concepts students struggle with into new perspectives they can work with more easily.

I've always enjoyed learning and want to instill the same excitement you get when you understand a subject in my students. It's a great moment when someone who was struggling to see how a problem works starts to understand and they can figure out other problems like it on their own.

Frequently asked questions

I ask the student to walk me through the notes they have on a subject and provide any problems they have been struggling with. I'll then walk them through one of the problems while pointing out where in their notes or textbook the answers come from. Once I see that they start to get the hang of it, I will let them work on a problem on their own and help them out if they start to get lost again.

I have a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering so I am very familiar with fundamental math and science courses. I was also a TA several times during my degree at the University of Maryland and went through their training program on effective teaching.

My standard rate is $60/hr for 1 on 1 tutoring.

I was always passionate about learning and did very well in school. In many of my classes in high school, I would finish my work early and then my teachers would ask me to go around the room with them helping out other students that were having trouble. I've been teaching and tutoring students ever since.

I have primarily worked with high school students in science and math courses, but I have also helped students studying for exams like the SAT and ACT, middle school students, and undergraduate engineering students.

I have been actively learning japanese over the last few months. My youngest brother has been attending middle school remotely and was often in classes during the time I would be studying my vocabulary. The other day, he came up to me and repeated one of the phrases I had been practicing because he was starting to grow interested in learning the language after hearing it more often and seeing my efforts in it.

The most important thing before you seek someone out is to know where you are struggling specifically. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by a subject and when asked by a teacher what you are having issues with to respond 'everything!' But teachers help you best if you take the time to list out the topics you have done ok in and which ones you don't understand at all.

Students should try their best to figure out why they are struggling with a topic. Do you want a teacher's help explaining how a concept works or relates to other parts of a class? Are you having a hard time figuring out how to study for a certain class? Are you finding it difficult to memorize important concepts? Having a general idea of what you would like your teacher to focus on will help you to get the most out of your next interaction.
