About

I am extremely passionate about the tutoring that I do. I not only pride myself on being very knowledgeable in the math topics I tutor, I also thoroughly believe that I am a person that can get through to any child because of my patience, consistency, and love for helping others.

Learning is fun. Teaching and helping others learn makes me feel like I'm serving a greater purpose. What's the point of having knowledge if you keep it to yourself? And building relationships that will not only thrive in the short term but could potentially last for a lifetime is an amazing thing that I enjoy doing.

Frequently asked questions

Thwo things I do when I first meet a student: ask them why they believe they need tutoring and get to know them personally a little bit. This helps to break down any barriers and create a level of comfort with the student so it is easier to get them to cooperate and want to learn from me.

I have tutored my peers since I was in middle school. My father was the director of an after school program and summer camp so I was always around kids that needed help. As I got older, I was hired to tutor at places such as Morgan State University, Streamline Tutors, ClubZ, and Mathnasium so I have a pretty extensive tutoring background.

On average a session would be $20 an hour. That price usually doesn't waver but it could in certain circumstances.

I was always a step above a majority oif my peers when it came to math in terms of my knowledge as well as my passion and they saw that so it was easy for them to ask me for help. I helped a few of my friends early on and haven't stopped since.

I've worked with students of all ages, from elementary school to seniors in college. I've also worked with students of many backgrounds although most of them have been African-American since that population has been dominant in my various stop so far.

I tutored a high school student who was very bright but just needed a little extra push and reinforcement. At first it started out like most tutoring relationships; just walk in, teach, and leave. Over the course of the year however I became closer to the student's family and now it's to the point where I keep up with the family regularly and when the tutoring sessions are over we can just hang out for a bit and talk about anything. I know that I've made an impact in that student's life and in turn the student's family has made an impact in mine and I really believe that's what tutoring is all about.

I would say make sure that the teacher is a person who really wants to make sure you succeed. Someone who will keep you accountable and make sure you're taking all the needed steps to grow as a student. Most teachers all share similar credentials and know the material really well but the ones who put in the extra effort are the ones you want to seek out.

1) What is my style of learning (visual, audial, etc)

2) How long does it take me to grasp subjects?

3) Am i willing to put in the work and not just expect answers?
