bridge2success provides comprehensive, cooperative educational services for children and adults to prepare them for higher education or a career.
Comprehensive. We offer a full range of classes for all ages from elementary math to high school English and Spanish and college prep; we also offer study skills and academic coaching.
Cooperative. bridge2success comes alongside and works with parents and schools to help make classes easier to understand for students. We complete the educational experience!
Our tutors are well trained in the subject areas, and their strengths include a number of subjects for a cross-disciplined approach to instruction, for example, teaching reading comprehension helps students understand math problem solving.
Ron Harrison, the director of bridge2success, has a diverse, 20+ year teaching and tutoring experience. He has worked in administration for almost ten years, overseeing the successful re-accreditation of two Maryland schools, and has taught a wide variety of subjects from math and language arts to foreign language and literature—in the classroom, one-on-one, in small groups on the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
His extensive involvement in private, public, and homeschooling education allows him to meet the diverse needs of today's student. His passion is to give parents and schools a "right-arm support" to their child's education. He understands the community, and he raises academic standards to meet the challenges that the community brings and that parents and schools demand.
Watching our students grow in their understanding and confidence--and seeing this progress up close--makes tutoring a joy! We get to provide students with individualized, student-centered lessons that appeal to their unique way of learning; and students get to ask questions, as many as they need to make sure they "get it."
Their ability to accurately assess the needs of the student and quickly customize the learning material to address those needs at each session. Their flexibility to provide additional sessions in between scheduled sessions (i.e. to assist with studying for a test).
Ron is a top notch tutor. He always communicates with us on progress, times, and what we need to do to help our son succeed!
The Organization, structure and the intellectual skills
Our tutoring includes two important components: helping students with their everyday work and giving them a strong foundation in the basics. Along with giving them the assistance with assignments and projects, we also give them assessments/evaluations in the subject area and in earlier foundational skills (math facts, reading comprehension, writing, for example).
Along with curriculum development and extensive teaching and tutoring experience, we receive training in the most up-to-date methods of individualized teaching, targeted assessments, and numerous seminars and peer-development--picking up and implement best practices in one-on-one instruction.
