Hello!
My name is Katie Miller and I am a 5th grade teacher. I graduated from George Washington University with a Master's degree in elementary education and a teaching license. My passion for supporting the growth of children academically and assisting them in becoming constructive citizens is what lead me to this career. I have experience tutoring individual students, working with small groups, and leading classroom lessons in grades K-5. I have taken graduate level methods classes in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. Therefore, I have extensive knowledge on how to teach each subject.

How did you get started teaching?
I have always been passionate about assisting children in their growth. I went to school to get a degree in teaching so I could make an impact on students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a very diverse population of students. I have worked with students who are above and below grade level and with a range of IEPs and various levels of assistance needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Any time a student has that "lightbulb moment" and gets a new skill.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who cares about your wellbeing just as much as they care about your academic success. There you will find a passionate teacher who wants to do their best work to assist you.
