About this tutor

I have been tutoring for 20 years.  I have two degrees and work well with all levels with a focus on elementary and middle school reading, writing, English, math, test taking, organizational and study skills and motivating the average learner to improve their grades and test taking abilities.

My students currently range from grade one through grade ten.  I have several references past and present from administrators, teachers and parents. I work with students who are functioning at all levels of the curriculum including the ESOL learner and the mild to moderate special learning needs learner.  I have a very patient, compassionate way with my students as a highly skilled teacher. I am certain you will improve your motivation, grades, goal setting, and all skills.

You may call, email or text me once for information and to set up a consultation by phone or in person.  My schedule fills very fast.  I am accepting fall students, remote learning is preferred but open to in person tutoring.  Rates will fluctuate according to work needed and format or travel.

Thanks for reaching out!

Happy learning!

My work is very important to me. Not only do I really really like to see my students succeed in their assignments, projects, skills and tests, I encourage them to learn more of what they need at an advanced level whether they are new or accelerating English learners, remedial learners or average to above average students.

Reading and writing are very important in my life. The more practice with guidance each student accepts, the better.  I like to instill the concepts of this work in my students at every grade level and prepare them to set their standards high, understand the assessment of their work and more.....

I enjoy giving them feedback, having them meet my standards, consulting with their parents and t eachers and planning for them too.  Becoming fond of their success and them as individuals with individual styles of learning helps us bond which leads to more hard work

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to get to know the student by his/her cultural and academic interests first.  I prepare a skills and interest assessment at grade level and provide curriculum guidelines too.

My focus is on reading, writing and English.  I will work with English language learners and older students needing to refine their work and be supported at any level.  I work with younger students in math  and  I provide skill development for study, test taking and organizational skills.

It is important to me to know my students'/parents academic goals for the year.  I am very accommodating and creative in my approach, always tuning into my students needs, interests and aptitudes.

I am open to working any way that is helpful to my students. My hours are flexible and my rates can be too for multiple students in the family, multiple days a week etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have two degrees in education  and specialized reading and language training in special education through my professional development of several years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I price according to the work you need, online tutoring or in person tutoring, the research and resources you need such as library or computer work, consultations needed with your school, etc.  My fees range from $40 to $65.00.a session  for whatever you need and included are sibling discounts and multiple session discounts.  It is a busy season so I try hard to accommodate each and every one of you without compromising  my standards since I have experience tutoring and teaching also.

I always take current courses to enhance my work and grow my business.

How did you get started teaching?

Lesley University with a B.S in Education with.  a concentration in special education and reading.

Lesley University and Cambridge College, M.S of Education-K-12.

I started teaching in Medford in 1992, Boston, 1999 in the public schools, then joined private schools and agencies along with my private tutoring thereafter.  I have been a successful tutor for several years with addiional work with young children and adult English Learners.

What types of students have you worked with?

I work with the average to advanced learner, English Language learners and special learning needs students too.

Some students need minimal support and others need much preparation in their lessons, structure, verbal and written formats, online tutoring is available anytime.

I have been successful seeing progress in both regular and special education students and have several references for the past 15 years from parents and teachers, administrators.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I loved tutoring my grade one- fifth graders most recently. I used interactive writing and applied it to both book reports and summaries in creative writing.
