What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe it is important to get to know students and establish a positive relationship prior to teaching. We want to make sure we will work well together and understand each other's process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 3 years experience working in public schools as a para professional and 6 years as a teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $50 per lesson but we can work together to find a price that works for everyone.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always had a passion for working with students and watching them succeed. I began working with students in an academic setting while in college at Framingham State during my internship at New England Center for Children.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have experience with students on the Autism Spectrum, social/emotional disabilities, behavioral concerns, dyslexia, and developmental delays.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent student of mine as been working the whole year on identifying sight words in his first grade classroom. At the beginning of the year he was able to identify 10 sight words and by the end of first grade he would identify 50.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to reach out for help, it is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Anything that comes to mind, ask. There is no question to small when it comes to your education.
