I am a Lesley University Masters student for Elementary Education.
I also spent a year in a Newcomers classroom being trained and learning best practices for teaching content focused lessons English Language Learners of all levels.
I am finishing supporting the lead teacher in online education and have gotten the past year to learn about unique ways to support students online. I am eager to try using my own practices and knowledge to be able to support other students which is why I am now here!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would set up a zoom or google hangout to be able to see the student and get to know them, their interests and dislikes, strengthes and areas they feel they want more support in.
It is key to work over video for me to be able to see the students reactions, when they are confused and to better explain anything needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Undergrad degree from ASU in Educational studies, and a Masters in Elementary Education.
I have spent a year in a 3rd grade classroom with City Year tutoring students and supporting those students that are just below passing.
I also spent a year tutoring reading fluency with another AmeriCorps program in Washington, D.C. for K-3rd graders.
My recent work has been with 5th grade content as well as tutoring 4th grade in reading.
I was also a lead preschool teacher at Les Petits Nursery in Brookline, MA for a year before getting into my Masters Program.
I have gotten different training and experience in working with all grade levels. I have also gotten the past could months to become familiar with different online resources to use and teach students.

I would charge $18 per hour of tutoring.
How did you get started teaching?
I've grown up in a family of teachers and once I did my first year of AmeriCorps after high school, I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different ages of students and students of different English levels. I have worked as young as preschool, 3-5 year olds, and as old as 5th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have really enjoyed working to create an online atmosphere for my students to work on. For English Language Learners I have loved getting to use FlipGrid to have students practice their English and have different conversations with each other. They get to be creative and I am excited to use it as a way to tutor and have mini check ins with the student so they can work more than only the time we may work together.
