I work hard to make sure I tutor the way my student learns! Not everyone retains information the same way and therefore should not be taught the same way! I believe the only thing people can't take from you is what you know, therefore I am constantly attempting to learn new things. I have 3 college degrees, have been teaching special education on the middle and high school level for 5 years, am a mother of 5 and am specialized in adapting educational plans to fit the students needs. I am not returning to teaching in the schools this year. I am currently an entrepreneur, babysitter and tutor.
I love helping other's succeed. I love to hear or see that ah ha moment when a student just understands what they are studying, or that moment they finally get the grade they were hoping for. I love the interaction with different students. I love the ability to bring positivity into someone's life, and build self confidence in my students.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Generally, after we have descussed payment, dates and time that the student is available, I spend the first session getting to know exactly where the student is struggling and how they learn. This helps me be the most effective tutor I can be and helps the student get the most out of my services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring other's since I was in high school. However, what makes me most qualified is that I have been a special education teacher at the middle and high school level for 5 years, have 3 different college degrees and enjoy teaching. Because, I taught special education I am trained in finding how a student learns best.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because I just love helping other's learn! I believe the only thing that can't be taken from you is what you know, therefore I am constantly reading and learning and teaching. They say you never truely learned something until you can teach it. Also, because of that I do not pretend to know a subject, if I believe I cannot help you I won't try because I could just make things worse.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds of students from general studies (k-12) that just need a little assistance, special education, autism spectrum students, nonverbal students, Spanish speakers learning English, college prep, test prep, and even adult learners to get GED or certain college courses.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you pick someone who is in the business for you! Many are just looking for extra money but you need someone as dedicated to your studies as you are! Don't sell yourself short!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Get to know how you learn the best. It will help you know how to build your study habits and how to retain information the best way.
