About
The best gift I bring to math tutoring is the ability to make complex mathematical concepts easy to understand. When students do not undrstand such concepts, it is my problem and I will work to create the needed understanding. In reality, I really started helping students master the principles of mathematics in 4th grade. I had a friend who was not motivated to master math facts and we worked together to help him realize he could do it. In 6th grade, a brilliant math teacher was making perfect sense to me, but when others had questions, he would repeat his fisrt response louder and more slowly. When that didn't help, I offered to explain the concepts. I was so successful, that the teacher began to rely on me to explain such concepts. In Geometry, we were always given a chance to start our homework during class and the teachers almost always asked me to work with students who were struglling. Throughout my adult life I have regularly been involved in Math tutoring. In 2004-2009, I owned and ran a Kumon Math and Reading Centar during which time I worked with more than 500 Children from 3 to 18. When I closed my Center, I spent 4 years as a Middle School Math Instructional Assistant.
It is particularly gratifying to see the confusion leave a student's face when they realize that they "get it".
