Jerry Davis Math Tutoring
About
I have 37 years of teaching HS Math and 20 years of Private Tutoring. I have experience teaching Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus/Trig.
I teach math for a reason.... that English thing didn't work out so well for me. I understand what it is like to struggle with a subject area and thus have a spot for kids who are struggling and willing to work to overcome that. You don't have to be great at math, you just have to be able to get through math.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fee is $40/hr for Algebra 1 and $50 for SAT Prep, Algebra II, $55/hr for PreCal/Trig.
How did you get started teaching?
I always wanted to be a teacher. I enjoyed school even though English was difficult. I guess that's why I went into math. I had a lot of teachers who took a genuine and very caring approach to me and helping make sure I was successful. I wanted to be like them - I wanted to teach and make someone feel like they made me feel.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Honors kids to help make sure hey got the A they were after. I have also worked with kids trying to pass Algebra 1 so they could graduate. Those are the extremes, everyone else falls someplace in between.
Of all the kids I have worked with, no one has ever quit because they didn't feel like we were making an impact in their classroom performance.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In 2018 my daughter got her White Coat and will finish her doctorate in Physical Therapy in March.
In 2019, my son started his own business, he is a baseball hitting instructor.
In November of 2019, I married my best friend and the most beautiful and perfect woman for me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not rely on the assistance of an Honors Student.
Make sure you use someone who currently teaches that course or one that is higher. Your JH math teacher is not the answer to your HS math class difficulties.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I doing all I can do to be my best, completing homework, preparing for assessments, and asking questions in class or am I screwing around and giving a half effort?
