About

I am a licensed Indiana teacher, with a degree in Elementary Education. My teaching license allows me to teach students from kindergarten through 6th grade, with additional licensing to teach English/language arts through 9th grade. I have nearly 10 years of experience teaching in Indiana public schools.

I am very patient and understanding. I believe everyone can learn and that often, the only thing standing in your way is your mindset! I will help you find a way to understand the material and do your very best!

I love seeing the moment when a kid "gets it", when they finally understand something they have been struggling with. I love seeing kids get passionate about projects.

Frequently asked questions

I like to take a few minutes to get to know a student -- share likes and dislikes, talk about previous experiences with tutors or favorite teachers, and explain what I expect from our sessions.  I also want to find out what the student expects and what they want to get out of our time together.

I am a licensed Indiana teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education and had additions to my license for teaching language arts up through 9th grade.  I have nearly ten years of experience teaching students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.  I've spent a lot of time working with students in small groups or one-on-one.

My standard price is $20 per hour-long session, regardless of the topic of the lesson.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in kindergarten.  I love kids and I love helping people learn and grow.

I have worked with students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, both in the regular classroom and the special education classroom.  I've had students with ADHD, autism, and other special needs.

I spent a lot of time working one-on-one with a fifth grade student who needed help in his language arts class.  We read the book The Sign of the Beaver together and he worked very hard on a diorama of a scene from the book.  I was so proud of him for taking the details he found in the book and turning them into a 3-D piece.  He also wrote about what he created and I saw his writing improve as he described what he was so proud of making.

Know what you want out of the experience.  Know your strengths and weaknesses.  Be willing to work.  I am here to give you extra help and the tools to understand the material, but you must come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.  Be willing to listen and try things.

What are you struggling with?  Why is that a struggle?  Don't just tell me that it's hard or you don't get it.  Explain why you think you're having an issue.
