About

I attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC and graduated in 2020 with a BS in physics and mathematics. While a student at Georgetown, I served as a teaching assistant for courses in multivariable calculus, mathematical methods for physics, quantum mechanics, and cryptography & number theory. My physics classes honed my skills in calculus 1, 2, and multivariable calculus as well as linear algebra and ordinary differential questions.

After college, I spent time assisting with math classes at a local high school and community college until I became a full-time math teacher at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis for the 2022-2023 school year, where I taught remedial algebra I, algebra II, pre-calculus, and AP calculus.

While I loved teaching high school math, my dream is to teach at the college level. In the fall of 2023, I enrolled as a PhD student in applied math at Northwestern University.

Mike relates well with the student and teacher. Mike is very engaging and able to provide support to the student while building confidence. Mike is very responsive and flexible with scheduling needs. Mike has worked with my son for two years now and I highly recommend him to any student in need of support with high school/college math or physics.

Email/call/text me and we can set up a time to work together, either on Zoom or in person. For in-person work, I prefer to meet at a library, coffee shop, or other public setting.

BS in physics and mathematics

Teaching Assistant experience in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, AP Calculus BC, Quantum Mechanics, Number Theory & Cryptography, Mathematical Methods for physics

Just started teaching high school math!

I entered seminary in fall of 2020, and for volunteer work I was assigned as a math tutor/teacher at various schools and community colleges. When I realized how much I love teaching math, I left the seminary to become a math teacher and, hopefully, one day a math professor.

Find a tutor you really click with who understands your subject well. Be sure to send them any material you are struggling with ahead of time, BEFORE your tutoring session, so they tutor can familiarize themselves with your homework/study problems and provide the best tutoring experience possible.

To save as much time as possible on your math homework, always try every problem on the assignment for a brief amount of time before meeting with a tutor. Then once you meet with the tutor, you already know which problems you need help with and which you are already able to do on your own.
