Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I want to get to know the student as a person. What are your likes/dislikes? How can I make math relatable and meaningful to you? After we figure that out, then I find out where you struggle with math. Concepts, procedures, or both? Then, I use my experience and knowledge of teaching mathematics to essentially teach you to fill in any holes throughout the content.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with an endorsement to teach middle and secondary from NIU.
2 years full-time teaching.
1 year substitute teaching.
7 years of tutoring experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus start at $30/hr.
Advanced courses such as Calculus or AP Statistics begin at $40/hr.

How did you get started teaching?
I first started tutoring and absolutely fell in love with the profession during my freshman year of college. Haven't looked back since!
What types of students have you worked with?
Any and every student!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is knowledgeable not only about the content, but about getting along with others as well. Especially with mathematics, whoever you're learning from needs to be able to communicate with you in a way that works for you. Someone you will get along with and can trust is going to be the biggest factor in you learning from them.
