About
I believe that tutoring is a rewarding job in many ways. Seeing the growth within each student is truly wonderful. As a senior in high school, I feel that I am able to connect with students at a more personal level. I have worked hard in school throughout the years as a high honor roll student, AP Scholar with Honor, and a cummulative GPA of 4.5. I also strive to create customizable lessons for each student because each student learns in different ways. Whether I am creating worksheets and lesson myself or assisting a student in their school work, I think it is important to pay attention to each student's unique needs. I have been tutoring for about 5 months now and have 2 students that I tutor in Language Arts and Math. I hope that you choose my services and that I am able to assist you and your student on their educational journey.
I enjoy the growth I see amongst students. Witnessing a student who lacked drive and motivation slowly evolve into a hard working and determined student is a rewarding feeling. Additionally, I hope to inspire each of my students to learn. While learning may not be a fun thing for everyone, I believe that knowledge is a powerful skill and I hope that everyone that has a chance to obtain it, also appreciates it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will begin by providing a general pre-test for the student based on the subject I will be tutoring them in. This will give me an idea of what they do and do not know. From there, I will develop lesson plans to help boost their knowledge in that subject area. I will also give check-in points so I am able to track the student's growth and continue to alter my lessons to see what fits them best.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a senior in high school, but am heading to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study Computer Science this fall. While I have not received formal training on tutoring, I have done research and have experience through peer tutoring at my school, as well as other students.
How did you get started teaching?
I began tutoring because I wanted to become a teacher and wanted to gain experience. Although I no longer want to pursue teaching as a career due to my other interests developing, I still enjoy teaching students and the joys that come with it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think it is important to look for a teacher that is not going to simply provide the answer, but help you reach the solution. Learning the process is much more beneficial than just being given the solution to a few problems.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is important for students to attempt to problem solve through issues they face. By looking through their notes and other resources, they are helping themselves gain knowledge and become more self-reliant. Asking for help is always a good option when you know you have tried your best to solve the problem yourself, but need assistance.
