About this tutor

My service stands out because I have 5 years of experience managing a classroom full of 2nd graders to progress academically and personally. I am confident that my background knowledge and experience in education will help us achieve your child's personal goals together.

I am confident I can help support a student of any age in:

-MATH (K-5)

-SPANISH (All levels)

I love getting to know each student's unique personality, strengths, and areas for growth. I really enjoy the relationship building that goes into teaching and the best part of teaching is when you get to see a student's eyes light up when they are finally understanding a challenging concept for the first time!

Ms.Kelsey was hometeacher for my daughter in 2nd grade. Kelsey is enthusiastic, excellent relationship with students, she motivates them for overall development of students. Being moved from India for first time this was new environment in Colombia for my daughter ,Kelsey really play a vital role in making my daughter feel comfortable and adopt very well at school. As a parent we felt very comfortable to communicate with Kelsey when ever we wanted to know about the feedback regarding our daughter. We would love to recommend Kelsey for any great Institutions who always look for an excellent teacher .

amazing capacity to give a child the confidence and eagerness to not only believe in himself but to want to do better each time- Mrs Kelsey was transforming our son into a child which loved to go to school. I can highly recommend her style and individual attention she provided in her class. Thanks to her our son progressed in a much more different attitude and energy ahead

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually as I begin working with a new student, I first do some get-to-know-you activities together so we break the ice and we can learn about each other's likes and dislikes and personalities so the student feels more comfortable. Then, we will review grade-level subject matter and go up or down on difficulty to figure out where they currently stand, using the Common Core State Standards as measure.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I was a 2nd grade teacher for 5 years - 3 years at Chicago Publics Schools and 2 years at The Columbus School, an International School in Medellín, Colombia.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Yes, I charge $35/hour for each session. This ensures that I am paid for my prep-time to create an individualized plan for each student as well, and I believe is a fair price given my 6 years of professional experience teaching.
