Learning Math With Dori
About
I can explain in a way that most high school kids can understand due to my youthful self. I am energetic, funny, and I won't waste time.
I enjoy showing students that math isn't as hard as they think. And in some scenarios, it could actually be fun which would improve their learning and passion for the subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would introduce myself and ask them what they need help with. Then I would give them a few questions from previous classes to make sure that they aren't stepping into the deep water without the prerequisites. If the parents have any comments, I would take that into consideration but I always value the student's opinion more because they are the ones taking the class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have finished high school after completing AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, and AP Stats. I have received an A and a 5 on the AP tests. I have also helped my younger brother and classmates from school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I would either charge $1.50 for a set of 5 difficult questions with an elaborate explanation without any charge for time. Or around $22.5 every half hour varying on the amount of content that we cover. The first session would be $10 just to try it out and then we could work out a price range that would be good for you.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in elementary. I always helped out my younger brother. I didn't want it to take up my time so I ended up finding ways to make it fun and easier for him to understand. In high school, I was tutoring my friends in AP Calc. Now I would like to expand my horizons.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids from elementary to high school. I am not used to a lot of emotions or disabilities yet but I have a passion for teaching and I would like to try if you let me.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am always fond of my friends smiling when I help them understand a certain topic. When I was young, I always loved solving problems and when I couldn't figure it out, my mom was there to show me how to do it. I don't know why but it always made me happy to know that I could do it too. That's what inspired me the most.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have an idea of what you need help with, be open to trying different methods of solving the problem, and bring all the things that you need. I will provide questions and worksheets for the next time that we will meet up after our first session.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should always think about what they can do to improve.
