    Frequently asked questions

The student is responsible for asking questions. It is my responsibility to answer them. Each student is unique. We will determine, together, where the confusion lies and make a plan to address it.

I was awarded a PhD in Physics in 2007. prior to that I obtained both a bachelor's and master's degree in Physics with a minor in mathematics. I have been teaching at the university level for 15+ years. I have also been employed as a tutor by test prep companies and the University of New Mexico Athletic Department.

First session is about making a plan, it's $45/hour. $60/hour for remote sessions. For face to face instruction I have to include my travel, so it would be $75/hr.

Reduced rates are available for multiple sessions.

I have been teaching and/or tutoring students for 20+ years. I started helping my friends and colleagues working for the tutoring center in college.

I have tutored students in all levels of mathematics and physics. I have also helped students with standardized exams, including SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT.

I recently had an opportunity to design an Astronomy day for a local Girls in STEM camp. We traveled to the Bishop Museum and learned about celestial navigation and the Hawaiian night sky. I was so impressed with the hunger for knowledge from these young women.

Be specific when asking for help... What are you struggling with?

"I'm not good at Math" is a start, but I don't believe it. Maybe taking a derivative is confusing, but that doesn't mean that you dont get math...

"Physics is hard..." is a true statement, but I would also argue that with practice it is also fun. Again, what concepts are you struggling with? I bet you do understand a lot more than you think!
