I have enjoyed educating and tutoring students for many years. Whether on the elementary or college level, I focus on teaching students at their level, according to their learning style and at a pace that is comfortable for them. My style of teaching is fun, energetic, and encouraging, challenging the students to focus and put in one hundred percent effort to reach their full potential. I have taught and tutored students on the Pre K level through college and currently teach and tutor students in elementary, middle and high school math and elementary reading. My desire is to help students navigate through the complexities of math that often intimidate and overwhelm some. I want to help students understand mathematical concepts and approach the subject with confidence. I also desire to work with students to improve their reading skills, whether it be phonetically or comprehensively.
I enjoy motivating and helping students to see their potential and accomplish their academic goals, watching them improve academically as they put in effort, and increasingly building their confidence in themselves.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session with a new student is about getting to know the student: their hobbies, interests, likes, dislikes which usually is helpful in determing what tools and techniques will work for the student. The next step is an initial assessment on the subject matter to determine the student's current level of knowledge and where we need to begin and focus the sessions. I then map out a plan of action based on the student's educational goals and needs. If the student is under college level, the parent is involved in the process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in finance and over 15 years of experience in the financial industry. During that time I worked as an underwriter, trainer, and customer relations manager. I have worked as a tutor for over 10 years and have been teaching for three years. I'm also the mother of three children and work regularly with them on various school subjects including math, reading and writing.
How did you get started teaching?
After working in the corporate sector for 15 years I felt a calling to become an educator. I have always worked with my own children in their school subjects and tutored students even while working in the financial industry. Three years ago I decided to completely transition into teaching and was given the opportunity to teach on the pre-K level. I am now teaching on the middle and high school level. I have a passion for education and desire to see students overcome obstacles and reach their full academic potential.
