Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to start by getting to know the student for a few minutes. Afterwards, I will try to pinpoint their issues by asking them how they would solve the problems in front of them. From there I can understand their logic and tweak it to bring about successful results.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Biochemistry from KSU.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
It started with helping out my little sister with their homework as a kid. Soon, my parents friend started bringing over their kids for me to help them. I then started a program at my local YMCA at the time and later parlayed that into my own business.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have ranged from elementary to college and come from a diverse array of backgrounds.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Seeing the oldest of my little sisters pass her final college math class. She was my very first student and now my work with her is done.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure to shop around. Some tutors are easier for you to connect with than others. Make sure you are getting the most bang for your buck.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Understand what you have the most trouble with. I as a tutor will try to figure out your struggles. But if I'm being told what the problem is, everyone will have a more efficient time.
