Mr. Garrett’s Tutoring
About
Hello and welcome! I teach engaging and interactive Elementary Mathematics classes for learners up to 11–12 years old. My classes are designed to make math feel approachable, exciting, and confidence-building, with plenty of opportunities for problem-solving, discussion, and strategy practice.
I bring 14 years of experience in education to the classroom. Over the years, I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade, and served in leadership roles including Math Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, District Math Director, and even National Director of K-8 Mathematics for the nation’s largest public charter school network. In 2025, I felt the pull to return to where my heart has always been—teaching scholars directly.
I am now a proud 3rd grade math teacher in Atlanta, Georgia, and I absolutely love working with students each day. My teaching philosophy is simple: every child can achieve at high levels when given the right tools and supports. I believe students thrive when they build a strong “math toolkit” filled with strategies, curiosity, and confidence. My classes emphasize problem-solving, flexible thinking, and the belief that mistakes are opportunities to grow.
A little about me personally—I am a United States Navy veteran who values service, resilience, and teamwork. Outside of teaching, you can usually find me on the softball field, spending time with friends, or cheering on my favorite teams.
I look forward to helping your learner unlock their potential in math while having fun along the way!
