About
I have tutored algebra and biology all my years as an undergrad and some years before that (6). I specialize in taking multiple approches until I find something that makes students have the AHA moment. I have helped to develop a program at my university called Biology Boot Camp that aids in teaching students how to be active and engaged learners by using the biology platform. I love helping students learn how to learn. My goal is to become an algebra and biology teacher. Teaching is a most definitely passion of mine.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Discovering their learning style. I need to know that before I start with content. I also start very broad with the big concepts and main ideas and work further into critical details. I use concept maps as a way to help aid this process. In math, I give strict step by step guidelines to use and teach them the clever 'algebra tricks' to get out of a sticky problem.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a tutor for 6 years. I have been a teaching aid and a student teacher for 3 years. I have conducted in depth research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and am committed to teaching students how to be active and engaged learners.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge $50/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I saw a need for patient tutors who can explain things and different ways and adapt to different learning styles.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who needed to be challenged more and I have worked with students who needed a little extra help to understand the concept. I have worked with algebra, calculus, and biology students. They have ranged from elementary school and up to the college level.
