Tracy's Tutoring
About
I was a classroom English teacher for more than 25 years, and have dealt with all ages from 6th grade to adult. I have taught SAT prep, literature, AP English classes, writing at the high school and college level. I have some experience with students with learning differences.
I also have five years' experience teaching ESOL/ESL courses for non-native English speakers: I truly love teaching all the beauty of the English language, and try to make it come alive for my students. I also have studied Italian and Russian for several years. I am State Certified to teach English.
Well, I love literature and language along with all types of art and music. I really enjoy digging in and explaining the cultural significance of various pieces, making it come alive and connecting it to my students' lives so that it means something to them. In general, I simply enjoy meeting people, learning about their history or culture if it is different from my own, even if that is simply a generational difference. I like the teacher/student relationship to be symbiotic in a way--I often learn as much from my students as they do from me, and I want to never quit learning!
