About
I retired after teaching for 34.5 years in Tallahassee with 20 years at Swift Ceeek Middle School teaching middle-school mathematics. I was consistently rated as a “highly effective” teacher.
I am enjoying my new role as a retired teacher by riding my bike and paddling the rivers and springs in Florida.
I will always enjoy the relationships built with my students and the satisfaction of helping them better understand and enjoy mathematics. Building students’ confidence is also a joy to witness.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before our first session, I would request state test scores from the most recent year. This would give me one platform of information to learn about strengths and areas that need focus. I would then be able to create a plan based on the student’s needs.
Next, I would request information on the text book being used and the class syllabus to be able to look at the present and future lessons.
Building relationships is important and I will spend some time allowing us to get to know each other. This will allow me to know how my student feels about mathhematics, what their accomplishments and fears about the subject are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Education and am certified to teach Mathematics. Grades 5-9.
I continued my life-long quest for knowledge by taking master degree level classes in the area of mathematics. I have completed yearly trainings and inservice while teaching.
