Welcome to Michelle Honeysett Hints Math Tutoring! I am a veteran math teacher of 31 years with a bachelor and masters degree in math education. I have taught all grade levels from 5th to 12th grade. I am an experienced, friendly and engaging tutor that specializes in online tutoring.

Since I taught during Covid, I know how to tutor online using a software called Classkick via touchscreens with Zoom. Students and I will be able to write on our screens simultaneously and then save the notes and their work for future reference. It's like having a digital piece of paper at all times and I truly love helping students!

Great experience for my 16 old son. Ms. Honeysett was patient and really helped him get a strong foundation in the key concepts required in Algebra 2. He was getting A’s on tests by the end of their time together! She was always willing to work around sports and other extracurricular activities. We would not hesitate to work with Ms Honeysett again!

Mrs Honeysett has been an absolute blessing in our lives. She tutors our freshman son in geometry. He finished his first year of high school with A’s in all four quarters and scored a 5 on his math state testing! Not only was Mrs Honeysett crucial in our son’s success she is a delight to work with. The communication is so easy and fluid. She texts every week and has been flexible when we have scheduling conflicts. Finally she uses Zoom and has it all set up so the students just pop on without purchasing everything. She even uses another program in conjunction with Zoom that allows her and our son to work on homework together on iPads allowing each to see the others work while on their call. We can’t give a higher recommendation.

Mrs. Honeysett was a teacher of mine in my senior year of high school. I enjoyed her teaching then, and when I needed help in college, I reached out to her for guidance. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to learn again from her. She is a very supportive and caring teacher, and goes to great lengths to educate her students.

We used Zoom and ClassKick, which was easy to use and satisfactory for working out problems. I had access to review these problems, along with the reminder sidenotes made by Mrs. Honeysett and myself after our sessions. When I did not understand something, Mrs. Honeysett reintroduced and reinforced foundational concepts with ease.

I would recommend her to anyone - she is very experienced in teaching a wide variety of students. She works resiliently and chooses to teach with a positive and caring attitude - something I feel very grateful to have experienced throughout my academic career.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I really like to get to know my students on a personal level first so I know how to relate to them, and their strengths and weaknesses in order to have the best strategy to teach them math.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have just retired from 31 years of mathematics teaching and have both my bachelor and masters degree in math education. My career has been in both public and private schools from 6th grade to PreCalculus levels.

Tutoring price can range from $50 to $75 depending on the length of the session

How did you get started teaching?

I fell in love with mathematics from my high school Calculus teacher and have enjoyed it every day since!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have many years of experience with both public and private school students, and also teaching regular and honors math classes.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I was so honored to retire and receive the "Tireless Teacher" award from my high school.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

If you are a student that struggles in math, needs to be taught material in many different ways, or even just needs more clarification on a topic learned in class, then I would be a perfect tutor for you. I still love helping students and am friendly, energetic and can explain concepts very well!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students need to make sure they are using all the math resources available to them at their school and then tell their tutor the best way they like to learn.
