About

I am very passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in general and I think a lot of people struggle with learning it because of a lack of passion from instructors! You should make it fun! Yes there is a lot to know but that doesn't mean you can't have fun at the same time. I am about to graduate with a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering so I am used to dealing with the practical applications of math, science and technology in order to achieve a mission objective, and I work with these concepts everyday. I am a very patient person and I understand what it's like when you can't grasp a concept right off the bat. I had to really study to understand a lot of what I know and it takes time and patience. I will work my hardest to make sure you can understand!

I think humanity can improve itself and take better care of the environment with smart, dedicated and patient engineers, scientists, mathematicians and technologists. Everyone wants to make a difference in the world around them but often the tools and knowledge to really make a change are out of reach. My goal is to not only teach you what you need to know to be successful at your subject but also to expand your knowledge about STEM in general and how it is being used right now to improve our world. Maybe you will find a place where you fit in too! Let's solve the world's problems.

Alex is very patient and helped my son with trigonometry. He prepared practice problems before coming to sessions and is very passionate about teaching. My son even told us about the story of chief soh cah toa during dinner! What a hoot!

    Frequently asked questions

When first starting to work with a new student, I like to really listen and understand what they are struggling with, and what is the required knowledge for the next test in that class. Then, once the areas that need work are identified, then we will go through an already solved problem and talk about how this kind of problem is useful in the workforce. After that, we will go through the already solved problem step-by-step, and I will have the student write down what each step is in the process. Then I will give them the same problem again but they will have to solve it themselves. If they have questions they can ask me or refer to the completed problem to help understand why something was done. In this way, you are gradually introduced to why each step is done and not lost at sea with no resources and no idea about how to solve it.

At the National Air and Space Museum, I was an Explainer, who gave demonstrations to all age groups on physics, aerodynamics and the forces of flight, breaking down complex concepts into manageable, bite-size chunks so that everyone can learn something. I also am about to graduate with a degree in aerospace engineering so I use math and science every day.
